How ANI reacts- BP doesn’t always predict nociception.

As shown in this publication, when blood pressure is high during some surgical procedures, it does not mean that the patient needs more Fentanyl.As we witness in this case, the ANI value is high reflecting that the patient is comfortable despite the patient’s BP being high. A bolus of urapidil was added to lower BP, but the ANI value stayed high, confirming that BP is not related to the nociception in most cases.
