Assessment of Procedural Distress with NIPE

09 Sep 2020

New article about the assessment of procedural distress in sedated/intubated children under 3 years old using NIPE (Newborn Infant Parasympathetic Evaluation). The study demonstrates that NIPEi is needed in procedural painful stimulation and during sedation in babies below 3 years, and it has a good correlation with the BPS scale. Furthermore, a NIPE value below 53 means that the baby is suffering from that stimulation.
